Yes, it really does help stretch the minnows out. No point dumping them in the lake when you are done, or letting them go belly up and buying more next time you go!

  2. MangoTree651 says:

I like the idea of the minnow tank. Saving money doing what you love is great.

  3. Sharing The Outdoors says:

We don’t fish at any particular spot. Some lakes are better than others, depending on time of year, spawning runs. We fish Deep Creek Lake every year for decades, but as of late, we are getting wander lust ( as noted in fishing Norris Lake Tennessee) and anxious for different experiences. Getting ready to do some tarpon fishing on the florida flats soon.

  4. Sharing The Outdoors says:

Used to be. Not so much anymore. A little topwater every now and again. Live bait catches more fish, and requires less effort.

  5. Sharing The Outdoors says:

That was a good one, believe it or not, they get bigger than that.

  6. Sharing The Outdoors says:

Yes it was. Tasty too. Made a meal for both of us, only problem is that I wasn’t the one who caught it. Probably wont hear the end of that for a while 8^)

  7. romneycareful says:

That ‘s a DAMN fine crappie.

  8. Sharing The Outdoors says:

By far, one of the most enjoyable and least expensive ways to enjoy the sport!

  9. I love good ol bank fishing. I love how you never know what you may catch when fishin with live bait like these minnows. It brings the fun back to fishing. I’ve been through my phases, from hardcore bass fishing or light action outfit crappie fishing, muskie fishing, but I keep coming back to bank fishing.

  10. shizzle5150 says:

I dig your minnow tank too. Always nice to have bait on the cheap and seeing them swim around is enough to get you out on the water 😉

  11. shizzle5150 says:

As an added note, as slowbow said… Those crappie can be a ways out! Growing up I always used the simple round bobbers and had good luck with slab bluegill. If you are going from the shore for crappie though and depending on the time of year try a slip bobber setup! They cast a hell of a lot better! You can put it out there. The reason being a tiny knot holds your depth and it will pass through the rod guides. With a good open face and a slip bobber you can fish areas that would be unreachable.

  12. Sharing The Outdoors says:

Yes it was! Very nice crappie. We’ll be looking for a few more of those as soon as the weather starts to warm up this year!

  13. shizzle5150 says:

That was a bastard slab she caught!

  14. 1111flyfish says:

I landed a crappie that measure 16 on my fly rid last spring. It fought like crazy

  15. Sharing The Outdoors says:

Nothing to be sorry for, your just offering good advice. But I wanted to mention it, because it has come up before. We may have crossed a few fishes eyes doing it this way, but haven’t pulled one out of the water yet. Even as hard as we thunk it, many are missed, those takes just don’t often get included in the videos.

  16. rochelle harris says:

that makes sense sorry about that but for me im about the same distance as u but I just reel up my slack and then do a decent hook set but I also use hooks that are made for crappie fishing

  17. Sharing The Outdoors says:

Glad you enjoyed the video. This issue has come up before. These schools of crappie can be 40,50 yards off the bank. With a light wind, there is always slack, and 18 to 24 inches of line under the bobber, it is necessary to lean back into the hook set to eliminate the slack and stretch in the line, and pull the hook out of the minnow and into the fish. Otherwise you simply pull the minnow out of it’s mouth.

  18. rochelle harris says:

there is no need to set the hook that hard on a crappie they have paper mouths just when u reel up ur slak just give a moderate hook set lol not one that will have the fish shooting to the moon good vid btw

  19. Sharing The Outdoors says:

Shiners, they sell them at many bait stores.

  20. ALPHATHEAWESOME says:

what kind of minnows are those at 4:00? thanks.

  21. cornsnake ballpython says:

    creeper laugh

  22. Sharing The Outdoors says:

We usually just feed them a pinch of the fish food we feed our other fish with.

  23. liljoker123456 says:

if you dont mind me asking what do the minnows eat

  24. Sharing The Outdoors says:

I used 8 pound mono here as well. We use that most of the time, getting the coupons for rebates and save a bit of money. Well spool up heavy for saltwater fishing, or perhaps lighter going down as low as 4 pound test for trout, but most of the rest of our fishing is done with 8 pound test and a reel with a smooth drag system. It’s not out of the question landing a 20 pound fish with 8 pound mono if the drag works properly.

  25. Jude Martin says:

How much pounds test line did you use for your red fishing rod?

  26. pyromanjake says:

    Is this shelbyville, IL?

  27. fishingorhunting says:

    Secrets for sure!!!!
