Muskrat and me crappie fishing
Video Rating: 5 / 5
Doing a bit of summer fishing on an extremely hot and muggy day on Lake Houston with my brother. Caught a few crappie, catfish and bream and had fun. The hot temperature ended up driving us back to the boat dock.
Hey! I really liked your video. You should think about submitting it to the Mercury Film Festival, starting June 3rd. You could win a free outboard or a fishing trip. You can find more information about rules, prizes, and eligibility at the Mercury website.
Good luck!

Muskrat went into retard mode……classic.
what did use for bait
If it’s very deep, I like to use a slip bobber. Makes it easier to cast if needed and easier to reel in a fish if in close.
thanks for the tip, but what was the rig you were using was it a simple rig or did you tinker with the bobber
We were using a portable depth finder and found crappie in the deeper holes along the old river canal. Hope you can find some.
ive tried and tried to catch a crappie on lake houston, been fishing there all my life and never caught a single one
Wasn’t too much, you can check their website or call them at 281-324-9199. I just looked at their website and it stated that they “were closed due to the drought”.
how much is it to rent the boats?
ok thanks man
great video look at my videos
- Minnows and worms under bobbers.
what kind of bait were you using?
– Yeah, they’ve got a couple of flatbottoms you can rent. We brought along our own electric motor to move around the lake a little quicker. Check out there website at bjsmarina.
can u rent a boat there
– Rented a flatbottom from BJ’s Marina off of Calvin road and were fishing roughly 1/2 mile south towards the bridge in the main river channel, 20′ deep. Used crappie minnows and a bobber but would rather use jigs when they’re hitting good.
what area of lake houston where you on? i fish over by the kingwood bridge and what bait were you using?
