The Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) – Quantico and Fort Belvoir Programs hosted a day trip on private access to the North Fork Shenandoah River near Maurertown, Va., Saturday, Aug. 25. Although the trip was a ‘short notice’ event, six Volunteer Guides and six Warriors from both programs attended the all-day event. Participants waded into the cool water and fished on more than a mile and a half of direct access to the Shenandoah River, on private property. Several different fish were caught including crappie, bluegill, small mouth bass, and sun fish; they were caught on woolly buggers, clouser minnows, nymphs, hares ear, and dry flies.

One new Warrior attended and was put on many fish!!

This event was held on the private property of a new PHWFF supporter and Navy veteran. The hospitality and scenery were incredible and the day’s fishing was a complete success. (Photos by David Kalis)
